Supporting the West Midlands largest food bank - Black Country Food Bank

At BSN we are always looking at ways we can support clients and give back to our community, so it was with great pleasure we signed up to a number of corporate volunteering days at Black Country Foodbank (a charity client of BSN) this October.

The charity supports 24 different locations across the Black County in collecting food from various donators such as primary schools, churches and drop off centres such as supermarkets. These donations are then collected by the charity, sorted at their warehouse in Brierley Hill and distributed to food banks for those desperately in need.

We were privileged and humbled to provide a small amount of volunteering support to the charity and to see first hand the work that they do in supporting those in need in our communities.

Below are a gallery of photos from the various days where the BSN team were involved in, helping collect donations in, sorting and labelling best before dates on produce then completing drop-offs at Food Bank centres.

It was great to get out and do a van drop off to the South Street community hub for the Brierley Hill Project and meet Ray who has run the centre for a number of years. The support they give to the local community means that 100s of families in the Brierley Hill area have food and basic supplies each week

The whole team enjoyed the experience and it has made us determined to do more to help those in need around us. In particular demand is outstripping supply at the moment and the charity is particularly concerned about donations drying up from January through to the spring months.

If you would like to support the charity, please check out their website as to how you can donate food, money or your free time. We promise you nothing goes to waste at this charity and and those who receive the support are eternally grateful: https://www.blackcountryfoodbank.org.uk/
